I'm moving house and it's stressful!
I don't know what to pack first, how to organize everything so everything I pack is in order or anything!
Any help here? Any hints or tips?Any tips to make packing up a house easier?
I was a professional mover for 13 years. The main thing you need to do first is put the things you will need that you are not going to take or things that absolutely need to go last in a special place. Do not pack the lamps on the end tables, leave food, TV's, checkbooks and any other items like this for last.
I would say start i the basement and the garage, these are the rooms of least importance. I do not know how long you plan on packing so the answer could be a little different. If you need a couple of weeks, start packing the bedrooms with the items you don't use, cloths out of season or better yet pack a suit case with the cloths you need and then pack everything in the closets and dressers. Pack the lined you are not planning on using and then leave a box or two in each room for the items that have to be packed on move day.
The kitchen; there is many dishes and pans that you do not use, pack everyone that you can and only leave one sink full of dishes so you can finish this easy. If you have enough time don't buy many grocery's and wear down what you have, you will have less to pack this way. Order out, its easier. Do yourself a favor and buy a few bundles of blank newsprint from U haul or a packaging company, you will save a lot of time. You should buy good boxes too if you are worried about your stuff. Lastly , go through all of the other rooms and pack everything except one or two boxes, your move day will be much smoother this way.
Good luckAny tips to make packing up a house easier?
